Download at home – The colored man gleams with delight as he causes us to remember George Floyd. I did this painting live on the fabulous traveling art studio.
The death of George Floyd inspired me to paint his portrait in abstract, as I open up about the subject of racism.
I grew up in the 60s in a place where dark skin was not very popular. As I explain this painful subject with my grandpeople, I am able to talk about an ugly kkk gathering that I was unfortunate to witness as a little girl. Surrounded by racism I was able to leave all that behind and start a better life, where my children were raised to be ‘color’blind. Forgive the tears, this is the most painful subject that I ever hope to film.
