the fineness of this yarn it is very nice for delicate Fair Isle garments.

Sport weight-
These yarns are twice as thick as fingering
yarns. Use a US needle 4-6 to get a gauge of approximately 4-6 stitches to the
inch. These yarns are typically used for sweaters, scarves, mittens, socks,

DK weight-
DK stands for double knitting which means it can be
used in a sport weight or a worsted weight pattern. Just adjust the
gauge by changing the needle size. Use a US size 5-8 to get a gauge of approximately
4-6 stitches to the inch. Use these yarns for socks, sweaters, baby things,
mittens, or any garment.
Worsted weight-
These, the basic size for knitting yarns, are
twice as thick as sport weight yarn. Use a US size 7-9 to get a gauge of approximately
4-6 stitches to the inch. These yarns are typically used for Sweaters, afghans,
baby things, and warm garments.

Bulky weight-
are very thick yarns, in fact these yarns are twice as thick as worsted
weight yarns. This group is harder to categorize as the thickness of
these yarns vary. I was surprised to learn that mohair is considered to
be a chunky. Use a US size 10-15 to get a gauge of approximately
2-3 stitches to the inch. This yarn is excellent for heavy sweaters,
blankets, and other warm and fast garments.

Novelty Yarns- We love to have some fun once in a while.
That's where Novelties come in. Fuzzy, furry, bumpy, lumpy, anything fun and
unusual. What would my Grandma have to say? These are the yarns that are knit
unto a project by way of another yarn, such as the
fancy bags. Or knit on really large needles for fabulous scarves.
